Enabling a person to engage in daily activities or vocations is the goal of occupational therapy. Children spend their time learning and playing. Children with developmental delays or disorders may not have the social, motor, perceptual, cognitive, or sensory skills necessary to participate fully in daily activities. These children can benefit from occupational therapy treatments.
Motor Disorders
The child is first evaluated by the occupational therapist to identify their strengths and weaknesses. When therapy is necessary, the occupational therapist offers a program tailored to the needs of the child, treating deficits with exercises and activities that improve hand and motor development, play skills, executive functioning skills, cognitive abilities, and spatial awareness by using evidence base practice. Aspects of the kid’s sensory processing are also addressed through activities that give the kid the right sensory input within and outside of our clinic.
